IN his latest address to borough residents, Thurrock council leader Cllr Rob Gledhill has once again repeated his call for local people to get vaccinated to protect themselves and others against Covid-19.

And, even though he came in for criticism at a recent full meeting of the council for not wearing a facemask himself, he stressed the importance of masks in stopping communication of the disease.

A THURROCK pub's Christmas appeal to help homeless people has received a big boost from a community charity.

The Woodlands Edge pub on Broxburn Parade in South Ockendon has pledged to undertake a pre-Christmas fundraising campaign for the locally-based is Friends of Essex and London homeless.

CONSERVATIVES have rounded on a former activist who yesterday announced his resignation as a leading official in the local Tory organisation - by saying he has fabricated his position and his relevance within the local party.

Thurrock Nub News reported on the 'resignation' yesterday (Thursday, 9 December) live on BBC Radio Essex by Charlie Sansom, who announced he was standing down as the chair of South Basildon Conservatives because he was 'sick to his stomach' of the party's leadership over Covid-19.

TWO borough companies have offered their support to Thurrock Council's 'Give a Gift' Christmas campaign which provides everyone the opportunity to donate a present to a local child in need for whom Christmas can be a difficult time of year.

This week the Corringham-based InterGen power company donated £800 of Love2Shop Vouchers for presents for some of the borough's older children and Specsavers Lakeside have made a generous donation of toys too.
