Grays central library.

THE leader of Thurrock Council's Labour group, John Kent, has called for a pause to all proposals to move the Central Library from the Thameside Complex in Grays.

At a recent full council meeting, despite earlier comments from other cabinet members that nothing had yet been decided, central services portfolio holder Cllr Jack Duffin appeared to break a confidence when he let slip that plans were well-advanced to move the library into the new council office extension on New Road, Grays, which is nearing completion.

COUNCILLORS in Stanford-le-Hope have assured residents in the town that Thurrock Council and Essex Police are working together to comet the menace of rogue motorcycle riders.

The issue of off-road bikers in various parts of the town has been a long-running blight on the area and over the past 24 months Thurrock Nub news has written several stories about the problems, the latest being in October when we reported cash was being set aside to give police a better chance of catching offenders.

Jackie Doyle-Price plans to vote against the government tomorrow.

THURROCK MP Jackie Doyle-Price has explained why she will once more rebel against the government and vote against some of the covid legislation measures that will come up before parliament tomorrow.

In November Ms Doyle-Price was one of just 13 Conservative MPs who voted to enforce the immediate suspension of Conservative Owen Paterson following revelations about his 'extra curricula' activities after he was found to have misused his position as an MP to benefit two companies he worked for.

A THURROCK councillor has reiterated her delight that Thurrock Council has given ' a stay of execution' to two threatened children's nurseries in Tilbury and has refuted a statement by portfolio holder Cllr Barry Johnson at last week's cabinet meeting that the council's plans have been reported inaccurately.

Last week Thurrock Nub News reported on a council announcement that, following a public consultation, it will be seeking new operators for the Little Pirates and Neptune Nurseries rather than closing them and that they will remain open until at least August.
