The queues anti-clockwise at 8.30am.

HGV breakdowns caused big problems for drivers heading north at the Dartford Crossing tunnels this morning (Wednesday, 8 December).

The first incident happened around 6am when a lorry broke down in the west tunnel, causing its closure. All traffic was diverted to the taller east tunnel which began to cause tailbacks and they gradually built up as the rush hour dawned to junction three.

FIFTEEN years after Thurrock Council laid down rules preventing people from creating permanent roadside memorials to people who have been killed in accident or other incidents, Thurrock council says it is planning to come up with a revised policy – though it seems little has actually changed since the original ruling back in 2006!

Members of next week's Cleaner, Greener and Safer Overview and Scrutiny Committee on Tuesday 14 December will be asked to make a decision on what officers say are 'revised plans' relating to the council's roadside memorial policy.

THURROCK Foodbank, the charity that provides emergency food for people in crisis, has received a £1,500 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Tilbury.

The Foodbank, part of the Trussell Trust, provides three days' worth of nutritionally balanced, emergency food and support to people who have been referred to them in crisis.
