ESSEX Fire and Rescue Service dealt with more than 100 incidents across the county last night (Wednesday, 20 October) and in the early hours of the morning in the wake of Storm Aurore

Among them was a call to pump out homes that had been flooded in Grays.

PERMISSION has been granted to develop a terraced building on Lampits Hill in Corringham and a patch of land behind it to create four new homes.

The development will see the creation of a two storey rear extension and internal alterations to provide a two storey attached dwelling and two storey flat at 5A Lampits Hill and a detached two storey building on land to the rear of it which will provide two dwellings.

THIS evening's heavy rain, which prompted an amber weather warning from the Met Office, is causing problems across the borough.

Flooding is reported on roads in the west of Thurrock, particularly in North Stifford, and in the east there is rising water in Ruskin Road in Stanford-le-Hope, which is lapping at the doors of a number of houses.

ARRESTS made in Grays and Aveley were among 55 made across the region in recent days as specialist police officers seized £180,000 in cash and took more than 6kg of drugs off the Essex streets as part of a week of action focused on disrupting County Lines drug supply.

County Lines Intensification Week took place across the country between 11 and 17 October. Of the 55 arrests made by Op Raptor teams in Essex, 39 people were charged, 13 people were released under investigation and three people were released without charge.

THE Met Office has warned that Thurrock and South Essex could be subject to localised flooding because of heavy rain expected late this evening (Wednesday, 20 October) and into the early hours of tomorrow.

It has issued amber and yellow warnings, and says Thurrock could be among the worst affected areas. The warning says homes and businesses are likely to be flooded, causing damage to some buildings

THURROCK'S Neighbourhopod Watch team will be hosting a crime prevention awareness event at Avelely FC's Parkside ground next week.

The event will take place on Saturday, 30 October at the ground on Park Lane (RM15 4PX) from 10.30am to 1pm.

ADVANCE warning has been given of two more weekends of significant disruption on the A13 because of Thurrock Council's road widening project.

This coming weekend, starting at 9pm on Friday, 22 October, the A13 will be closed in both directions between the A1014 (Stanford-le-Hope Manorway junction ) and A128 (Orsett Cock roundabout ) junctions.
