Sunday, 27 June will see that start of the 500 mile Beach of Dreams walk, Beach of Dreams is an epic journey to discover the hidden gems of the East Coast of England, inviting collaboration from communities and artists along the way in Suffolk, Essex, Southend, and Thurrock.

ON Saturday 19 June, Belhus CC 2nd XI hosted Old Southendian and Southchurch at North Stifford.

Belhus fielded first, with Captain Guilbert taking three early wickets, two of which were catches in the field by Andrew Williams. The bowling attack continued, with promising young bowler, Millard taking four wickets, three of which were further catches in the field by that man again, Andrew Williams! A fielding "5for" to match the best at Belhus.

Veterans on hand for flagraising

VETERANS attended a flagraising ceremony at Thurrock Civic offices this morning (Monday, 21 June) to mark Armed Forces Day, which is on Saturday.

Borough mayor Cllr Sue Shinnick, council leader Cllr Rob Gledhill and MP Jackie Doyle-Price were among the civic dignitaries and Rev Darren Barlow conducted a short service.

AN Orsett Primary School pupil will be celebrating her 10th birthday by having 14 inches of her hair cut off to raise money to help families with ill children at Basildon Hospital.

Sienna Walters, from Langdon Hills, is raising money for Polly's Pad, a three-bedroom bungalow funded by the hospital's Polly Parrot Appeal. It's an important service that helps more than 300 families a year who have children being treated at Basildon Hospital, giving them a place to stay and be near their children whilst they are receiving care.

A LOCAL hospice charity is looking for volunteers who can spare few hours of their time to assist in its charity shop in Corringham.

The Havens Hospices shop is located on Grover Walk. Along with the charity's other 22 shops across Essex, it helps raise vital funds for children, young people and adults living with complex or incurable conditions across the county.

Current Senior Investigating Officer DCI Stuart Truss lays flowers at Essex Police's Chelmsford Headquarters with Danielle's mum Linda and brother Mitchell.

DETECTIVES, retired and serving, joined the family of Danielle Jones at Essex Police's Chelmsford Headquarters for a memorial to mark the 20th anniversary of her disappearance and murder.

Those gathered, including those who worked on the original investigation two decades ago, laid flowers and observed a minute's silence to remember the tragic schoolgirl.
