Michael Harker and son Reece

A TILBURY dad who is devoting his life to the care of his seriously ill son has called for a show of compassion from Thurrock Council to help him carry the burden of care.

Michael Harker, 27, lives on the eleventh floor of high rise Brisbane House in the town and says it is an entirely unsuitable place for him to be able to care for his son Reece, who suffers from a number of life-inhibiting conditions.

A STANFORD-le-Hope mum of four was spared a driving ban by magistrates in Basildon after hearing a ban would mean she would have to take her children on a five mile round trip to schools.

Kerry Newins, 41, of Victoria Road, admitted speeding on Lodge Lane in Grays in August last year and also speeding on Southend Road in Stanford-le-Hope.

THURROCK'S town centre policing team has spoken up following an arrest in Stanford-le-Hop today (Wednesday, 22January).

A statement says: "Today officers from Thurrock's Town Centre Team were patrolling Stanford-le-Hope town centre when they were alerted of a man acting suspiciously near a business store.
