GOALS by former East Thurrock heroes bookended another heavy defeat for the Rocks at Hornchurch this afternoon (Saturday, 19 February), one of just two Isthmian Premier Division games to survive the weather.

For the fourth time in the league this season, with two more in cup competitions, East Thurrock conceded five goals or more and in 28 league matches this season they have conceded 74 times.

A BOROUGH councillor has spoken of her anger and disappointment, saying Thurrock Council and its housing contractor Mears turned their back on residents in need following damaged wreaked by Storm Eunice.

There were numerous incidents across the borough yesterday during and in the wake of the storm, several of which were reported on Nub News during the afternoon and evening.

THE firm involved in the much-delayed and botched refurbishment of tower blocks in South Grays is promoting a venture in which it will support local community projects.

Axis was awarded the £9 million contract by Thurrock Council to replace cladding and install new windows at six tower blocks in south Grays and three more in Blackshots. The work was supposed to have been completed by this spring but was halted, after Axis had removed the old cladding, after it was discovered windows made for the project didn't fit.

SOME visiting restrictions have been relaxed across Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, which includes Basildon Hospital and Thurrock Community Hospital on Long Lane, Grays.

As Covid-19 numbers in hospitals continue to fall, visitors are being welcomed back onto the wards. Patients will be able to see one visitor for an hour a day.

A JOINT operation between Thurrock Council and Essex Police tackled potential fly-tippers transporting waste in the borough.

Over the course of two evenings officers stopped and checked more than 30 vehicles they suspected of transporting waste to make sure they were properly licensed and issued nine on-the-spot fines to drivers that were found to be in breach of waste carrier regulations.
