WARD councillors and residents in south Grays have been celebrating the successful conclusion of a campaign to repair and improve local street lighting.

Following a community campaign, that has lasted more than a year, to repair scores of street lights at Seabrooke Rise in Grays, councillors and residents have welcomed the improvements so far and called on Thurrock Council to never let it get into that state of disrepair ever again.

AVELEY remain at the top of the Isthmian North after a late goal gave them a single goal victory in a hard fought match at Heybridge Swifts on Saturday.

Chances were few and far between in a match that was close, though Millers were always the team most likely to break the deadlock, with George Sykes getting the ball in the net as early as the ninth minute, but it was ruled out for offside.

A RIGHT royal event is being planned in the west of the borough later this year to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubliee and a message as gone out asking if any local traders or charities would like to take part.

Roger Passfield of the West Thurrock and South Stifford Community Forum says it will be will be holding an event on Sunday, 5 June from 11am to 4pm.

End of the road for travel scheme says Cllr Gary Byrne

IT has been confirmed by a local councillor that plans for traffic calming measures in a busy borough residential area have now been put on hold – for a number of years.

Throughout 2021 and over previous years, particularly after the implementation of speed restrictions on the parallel Southend Road, residents in the Branksome Road area of Stanford-le-Hope have expressed concern about the amount of traffic in their area and the speed at which it travels.
