Councillors celebrate news of the consultation.

NEWS that a consultation is to be launched in the new year about the future of a Thurrock community space has been welcomed by ward councillors.

The Parker Road Green Space Consultation will take place in January and is the latest event in what has been a recent checkered history for the site - which has been at the centre of plans by Thurrock Council which included using part of it as a construction site base.

Amazon helps light up the town

A CHARITY promoting regeneration in Tilbury has received a £1,500 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in the town.

The Tilbury Riverside Project was set up in 1992 with the aim of promoting economic, social and cultural regeneration in Tilbury and surrounding areas. The project is responsible for the Tilbury Christmas lights, has a programme facilitating guided walks and has previously worked with people from the community living with Alzheimer's disease.

THANKS have been expressed by the business co-ordinator for Thurrock's Foodbank after a gift from staff at the borough-based Wyldecrest Parks.

Sandra Sawle and her colleagues at the Foodbank in Corringham have received the donation and she says: "Thank you to Mishu Sidhoo from Wyldecrest Parks for arranging a collection of toys and chocolates among her colleagues.

MORE than 2,000 presents have been donated for children and young people in need across the borough as part of Thurrock Council's award winning Give a Gift initiative this year.

A further £3,360 was raised via a 'GoFundMe' page and other offline donations that have also been used to purchase additional gift voucher presents for older young people in time for Christmas.

THE Grays campus of South Essex College is one of those selected to deliver a series of free professional driver qualifications through the government's HGV Bootcamp initiative.

The courses, which last up to 16 weeks, are suitable for those new to heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driving, or those returning to driving. Those wanting to upgrade their licence or qualifications can also apply.
