MOTORISTS and residents are reminded that once again there will be disruption to traffic through local towns and villages this weekend because ongoing A13 widening project.

The A13 will be closed in both directions between the A1014 (Manorway) and A128 (Orsett Cock) junctions this weekend for road surfacing, lining and lane re-alignment works.

It will take place on Saturday, 4 December and will be the first running day since the Covid pandemic broke.

EAST Thurrock United's new management team of Marc Harrison and Liam Wallace, who will be taking charge of their first match this weekend when the Rocks take on Corinthian Casuals at Rookery Hill, will be at the forefront of a Fans Forum next week.

It will take place on Tuesday, 23 November at the club when supporters will have the chance to ask the joint managers, captain Arthur Janata, chairman Steve Wiseman and general manager Phil Crowe questions.

AS the planned reform of administration of health services in south Essex gathers momentum, it has been announced that the appointment has been made of the chief executive for the new Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board.

It will be a new layer of administration over the region, replacing the Clinical Commissioning Groups, though its staff will be integrated into the new organisation.

THURROCK Council says it plans to get tougher on residents who willfully fail to meet their financial obligations to the council – but is offering beacon of help and hope to those who are genuinely struggling to pay their way.

The council currently has around £5 million in outstanding council tax arrears and at a meeting of the council's corporate overview and scrutiny committee last night (Tuesday, 16 November) its members were briefed on the authority's new 'Fair Debt' policy which has been developed in consultation with Citizens advice and other external agencies.

HUNDREDS of Thurrock Council workers will go into Christmas worried if they will have a job in the new year after the authority's finance chief confirmed he and fellow directors are looking at how they can slash at least 200 existing occupied posts from the council's payroll.

And he warned: "No one is safe!"
