TRIBUTE to the borough's fallen was paid at Orsett this morning when Chadwell Royal British Legion hosted its annual service at the village's war memorial.

The service was taken by Rev Sue Mann and among the dignitaries present were Thurrock mayor Cllr Sue Shinnick, East Thurrock MP Stephen Metcalfe and Lord Lieutenant of Essex Mrs Jennifer Tolhurst.

JUST ten days after parting company with Tilbury, management duo Marc Harrison and Liam Wallace have been appointed as first team managers at East Thurrock United.

A statement from the Isthmian Premier side today (Saturday, 13 November) said: "We are pleased to announce that Marc Harrison and Liam Wallace have been appointed as first team managers.

PURFLEET-on-Thames residents were out in force this morning (Saturday, 13 November), tidying up the local community.

A CELEBRITY councillor in Thurrock has launched a campaign to honour a borough soldier who died in Afghanistan by naming a road after him.

Former pop star and TV reality show participant David van Day is calling on Thurrock Council to rename the B1335 (known as the Aveley bypass) after Lance Corporal Nicky Mason, who was killed in an explosion on 13 September 2008 while on active service with the Parachute Regiment in Helmand Province.

ST Thomas of Canterbury Church in Grays is looking forward to welcoming everyone to its 2021 Christmas Bazaar after last year's event was cancelled due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

Thurrock Council has been asked if it would require an environmental impact assessment by the developers who propose a ground-mounted solar panel farm on a site on land off Fen Lane and Medebridge Road, South Ockendon.
