TWO drivers were injured amid a series if collisions caused by horses that got loose on a busy roundabout in Thurrock thus morning (Wednesday, 10 November).

Police were called to reports of horses loose at around 5.30am this morning as the animals caused significant disruption along Dock Road Approach towards Tilbury Docks and the A13 towards London. The roundabout adjacent to the ASDA store was particularly badly affected.

MORE return trips to London from Tilbury by Uber Boat have been announced following the success of previous ventures.

During the summer a number of trial runs were made of the service from Tilbury to the capital - in advance of a possible permanent service and the creation of a dedicated terminal for the clipper boats at Tilbury.

JUST four days after a defeat at the hands of bottom club Leatherhead and the departure of manager Paul Martin, East Thurrock United belied their lowly Isthmian Premier position with a hard-fought and deserved 2-0 win against promotion-chasing Lewes tonight (Tuesday, 9 November).

Under the guidance of caretaker manager Jim Cooper after Martin quit, Rocks were busy from the start and their work-rate was high as they matched Lewes (known as the Rooks), who went into the match in fifth place with eyes on third spot, in every department.

Borough mayor Cllr Sue Shinnick presented certificates to a group of social entrepreneurs

A GROUP of social entrepreneurs recently gathered at South Essex Colleges Waves restaurant to celebrate a year of studying with the Thurrock School of Social Entrepreneurs – from learning to pitch, to writing a business plan to understanding the market – and all the students said they had gained a lot from the course.

Supported by the London School of Social Entrepreneurs and funded by Thurrock's Riverside Community Big Local, everyone was awarded a certificate and all were acknowledged as providing future socially minded businesses.

Thurrock Council is renewing its health and wellbeing strategy, a wide-ranging document which covers subjects including residents' personal health, their longevity and community wellbeing.
