SCHOOLS in the borough who might be planning a trip to an environmental or heritage site have been remined they can get funds to help with transport costs through the Land of the Fanns Landscape Partnership Scheme's School Transport Fund.

The partnership Scheme is a scheme aimed at engaging the local communities of Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Thurrock, Brentwood and south-west Essex with the natural, geological, archaeological and built heritage of their local area.

IN the wake of Thurrock Council's bid to put a positive spin on its plans to close the Thameside Theatre in Grays as a benefit to the wider borough community, one of the most respected members of the local world or arts and culture who has previously been honoured by the council, has delivered a damning personal indictment of its plans.

And Vic Gray, the chair of Arts Thurrock, says the council is being deceitful, dilatory and disingenuous in its approach to the issue.

PLANS have been submitted to Thurrock Council to demolish an existing house in Chadwell St Mary and replace it with a block of three apartments.

Initially the developers wanted to make the new development of four apartments but have now reduced this to three, consisting of one singled bedroomed home and two two bedroom flats, after initial discussions with the council's planning team who regarded four apartments as 'over development'.

Will debate be silenced because of drips? Thurrock Council meetings scheduled for the chamber have been put on hold

NINE days after it was discovered, Thurrock Council has blamed a water leak that has affected the electrical supply as the reason why it is postponing several meetings – including, it appears – Wednesday's (22 September) full council meeting.

The meeting has a full agenda with many key local issues to be addressed and senior members of the council's ruling Conservative group were set to face some tough questions.

DETAILS have now emerged of this morning's incident in Stifford Clays which saw armed police taking part in an operation.

As part of a follow up to an earlier incident officers were deployed at several points in the Stifford Clays area, including the shopping parade on Crammavill Street. The origin of the incident lies in an alert raised just after midnight.

The A128 Brentwood Road will be closed three nights this week and through the whole of the weekend

MOTORISTS and residents have been reminded that the A128 Brentwood Road will be closed three nights this week, starting this evening (Monday, 20 September) and through the whole of the coming weekend for works to construct the new approach to the Orsett Cock Roundabout.

The closure will affect the A128 in both directions between Orsett Road and Orsett Roundabout.
