THE Met Office has warned that the region may be hit by thunderstorms this afternoon (Tuesday, 20 July) which could cause impacts to travel and power supplies.

SATURDAY 17 July saw a clean sweep of disappointing defeats for all Saturday league teams at Belhus CC.

The Belhus CC 1st XI lost away at rivals Chingford by five wickets. There were six wicket defeats for the 2nd XI at home to Ardleigh Greeen & Havering and for the 3rd XI away at Ilford. The Belhus CC 4th XI fared no better with a seven wicket defeat at home to Leigh on Sea. Belhus CC teams were not at their strongest and those players playing up were a credit to themselves and the club.

A THURROCK Council highways officer, who spoke authoritatively about the Stanford rail station project last week when addressing councillors who approved plans to build the town's rail station, has asked questions of his own authority when asked to comment on the second phase of the major project.

Julian Howes addressed planning councillors at last Thursday's meeting, and was a strong advocate for the council's plans.

POLICE have given an update on yesterday's M25 crash involving two lorries in Thurrock, which left a Grays man with significant injuries – and they are hoping drivers who witnessed the incident or have dash cam footage will come forward.

A statement from police says: "We are continuing to investigate a collision involving two lorries on the M25 near Thurrock yesterday (Saturday, 17 July) when we were called shortly before 2.30pm after a lorry collided with a stationary lorry near junction 30, heading towards the Dartford river crossing.
