A VILLAGE community will get the chance this week to pay respects to a much-loved local resident.
Hazel Swift passed away last weekend, just a few months after her husband Godwin, who died in January aged 90. Residents have described Hazel as 'The Queen of the village'.

LOCAL campaigners have welcomed news that the Department of Transport's future roads programme, which includes the proposed Lower Thames Crossing, is to be challenged in the High Court.

THE parents and carers of disadvantaged children over the age of 16 will be told to pay for school transport, under changes approved by Thurrock's ruling councillors.
School transport will also no longer available to children who are within walking distance of a school which has places available.
