Outstanding bravery:  Heroes Larry Litchfield and Rebecca Lee

THE bravery of three police officers who tried to rescue a man from the burning wreckage of his car in Tilbury has been recognised with a leading award.

The traumatic incident, which unfortunately ended in the death of the driver despite the efforts of officers, was played out in July 2018 when the car crashed near the Port of Tilbury, striking a tree and catching fire with the driver trapped inside.

THE organiser and supporters of the charity horse and dog show held recently on the Orsett Showground have hailed its success - and are celebrating raising more than £2,000 for good causes.

The driving force behind the event was Alison Treadwell who says: "The charity horse and dog show held on the Orsett Showground on 28 August was a huge success!

FOLLOWING the closure of Thurrock's Adult Community College in Grays, courses are being spread around the borough and information is being shared at a number of regional events.

On Wednesday, 15 September the Aveley Community Hub at the Recreation Ground off the town's High Street (RM15 4BY) will host and open event about adult education and family learning.
