Volunteers will be bopping along with Simon Rawlings

A BOROUGH couple and a local social club have come up with a show-stopping way to say thanks to all those who have been helping with Covid-19 vaccinations in recent months and weeks.

John and Mary Clark have organised a free evening of entertainment which will be staged at Stifford Clays Club later this month – starring Simon Rawlings as The Big Bopper, a role he played for six years in the West End production of The Buddy Holly Story at The Strand Theatre.

Care director Ian Wake has called for context when evaluating failings in local adult social service

"We have thousands of care interactions every day with hundreds and hundreds of service users and we have over four times as many compliments as complaints. They (staff) are not robots and however good your training is in challenging circumstances things do go wrong."

COMPLAINTS about social care provision in Thurrock have risen, a report has revealed, but the borough's director of adult social care says that the issue needs to be kept in context and that there have been far more compliments than complaints.

FOLLOWING the success of the Port of Tilbury's recruitment day in June, a group of 12 apprentices have joined the port after a competitive interview process.

The group of young people have now started their two-year apprenticeship which includes full training and accredited qualifications giving these new candidates the opportunity to gain skills and qualifications to work across all areas of the fast-growing port.

THE Port of Tilbury has reminded residents including young people and job seekers that it will be hosting a recruitment day on Tuiesday, 29 June at the London Cruise Terminal, to showcase the career and skills development opportunities available across the port for adults of all ages.

Restaurant chain Kushi, which has outlets in Chafford Hundred, South Ockendon and East Tilbury, secured the title of best restaurant group at the Asian Restaurant Awards 2021 held at the Manchester Mercure Piccadilly on August 31.

HEADON Hall in South Stifford played host to the return of a charity's efforts to bring smiles back to local people's faces.

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic Thurrock-based volunteers for the Re-engage charity have been working hard to keep in contact with lonely and vulnerable folk across the borough but over the weekend they were able to come face to face for the first time in 18 months and bring a group back together.
