Tunnel approach delays

TRAFFIC approaching the Dartford Tunnel was delayed this afternoon following a two car collision.

The accident happened just after midday today (Sunday, 7 November) at Junction 2 when the exit slip road to the interchange was closed.

Aldi store is set to reopen

THE Aldi store in Grays which has been closed for two weeks is set to reopen tomorrow (Monday, 8 November).

Staff have been spending the last couple if days restocking the store. It was hoped to have everything in place to open today but that has not proved possible.

THE outside wall of a Thurrock pub has once again been bedecked with an original painting to mark the remembrance commemorations.

It has become something of a tradition at the Kings Arms in Orsett to carry a tribute for the Remembrance weekend and today (Saturday, 6 November) Rayleigh-based artist Brett Mann created this year's artwork - his second at the pub.

Late despair at East Thurrock United

THERE was joy in equal measure for the borough's two Isthmian North sides in action today (Saturday, 6 November) but more disappointment for supports of East Thurrock United who succumbed to another Premier Division defeat as visitors Leatherhead nicked two late goals at Rookery Hill.

Aveley have moved into the play-off zone in the North Division after beating Basildon United 3-1.

TOMORROW will see the traditional opening of the Thurrock remembrance commemorations with a service at the war memorial St Stephen's Church, Purfleet-on-Thames.

This year the event (on Sunday, 7 November) will be extra special as it will see the official unveiling of the new memorial silhouettes at the Purfleet Military and Heritage Centre.

Gold was the colour of charity success at Tilbury.

WORKERS at Tilbury's Amazon fulfilment centre have made a £4,000 donation to to the Lennox Children's Cancer Fund in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

As part of the company-wide 'Amazon Goes Gold' project which highlights and supports the work done by many organisations to increase cancer survival rates through life-saving treatments and research, staff in Tilbury held a month-long series of gold-themed events.
